1. Performance

We emphasise performance at managed risk. An additional 2-3% in out-performance relative to one’s peer group/benchmark has enormously positive implications on the future value of one’s investment, the amount of income one can draw from one's investment and on the future amount one can bequeath to one’s beneficiaries.

Choosing the correct unit trust fund is the key to maximising investment returns. Our fund selection process is purely independent with no bias - we are evaluated by the investment performance we realise for our clients.

We do not confine ourselves to the largest funds, because they don’t always perform the best. Invariably smaller fund management companies are headed by investment professionals with long term track records of experience in larger institutions who are highly skilled and motivated in the pursuit of absolutely top performance. We include/recommend smaller funds that are lesser known with exceptional track records of performance over at least 5 years – that augment performance to one’s portfolio and importantly add diversification ensuring that not all eggs are in one basket (investing in the same stocks across funds etc.).

Financial Advisory

Our Approach

2. Diversification

The best protection that investors have (and its free) is diversification as the future often transpires quite differently as to what is expected. Diversification can be achieved through the utilisation of a range of funds, asset allocation and incorporating local and global exposure.

3. Asset Allocation

This refers to how investment portfolios apportion money locally and internationally between shares, bonds and cash. Financial advisors must determine when and where to increase or decrease share market exposure. This decision is based on the investment climate at the time as measured by economic growth, investor confidence, level of interest rates and the sentiment of the people to spend or hold money.

4. Risk

We understand that every investor is different. Our portfolio and investment solutions span across the risk spectrum depending on a range of factors – investors age, familiarity with investing, risk tolerance/level of anxiety when markets invariably fluctuate temporarily, likely duration of investment and importantly investor expectations.

5. Independence

We operate without any financial affiliation or ties to asset managers, banks, insurers, administrators or investment platforms. This ensures we maintain complete objectivity. Our independence means the advice we provide is solely based on what is best for our clients - free from hidden agendas or monetary interest.

6. Person to Person Engagement

We encourage person to person engagement and emphasise visual demonstrations whenever possible. Interactive and visual discussions are often far more effective and informative where clients are able to “see the numbers” and “visualise” one’s future financial position.

Our 5 Recommended Financial Tips

Make Financial Education a Priority

Having a solid investment and financial understanding is essential for making smart, confident decisions about your money. When you’re familiar with concepts like risk appetite, diversification, asset allocation, and tax strategies, you’re in a much better position to take control of your financial future. This knowledge also helps you have more meaningful conversations with your financial planner and ask the questions that reallymatter.

Protect your loved ones

It's important to look into insurance options like life cover, disability insurance, dread disease/critical illness cover, or impairment protection. Especially if you're the main or only income provider in your household. These types of policies offer financial support in case of illness, injury, or death, helping to ensure that your dependants are taken care of and not left financially exposed.

Start Early and Stay Consistent

Getting an early start with investing can make a huge difference thanks to the power of compound interest over time. Even small amounts can add up significantly if you're consistent. Setting up regular monthly contributions - whether into a retirement fund, a tax-free savings account, or a discretionary investment - can help you build steady momentum and grow your wealth over the long term.

Plan for unexpected life stages

Take an active role in financially protecting yourself during major life events such as marriage, divorce, retrenchment, resignation, or death. It's essential to understand the impact and implications of these changes. Investors should proactively prepare by regularly reviewing and updating their investment, retirement, and financial plans. This includes maintaining separate savings and emergency funds, reassessing insurance coverage, updating wills and beneficiaries, understanding your legal and financial rights in marriage, and aligning investment strategies with evolving goals and responsibilities.

Focus on Long-Term Growth

Playing it too safe with your money might protect you from short-term losses, but it can also hold you back from building real wealth – wealth well in excess of inflation. Especially early in your career, it’s important to take on a sensible amount of investment risk - you have time on your side to weather market ups and downs. A well-balanced, diversified portfolio with the right mix of share market exposure can help your investments grow, outpace inflation, and support a comfortable retirement.
